Doug's sister Emily is visiting from Colorado so we took the boys to the Santa Ana Zoo after church on Sunday. I wasn't sure if they'd like the zoo, based on our trip to a petting zoo where they were only interested in the water bowls and the feathers flying around! Thankfully, it was only $6 for adults and free for the boys! Here's a synopsis of the day: The zoo and a parking spot were easy to find, setting up two strollers with diaper bags, sippy cups, snacks, wipes ,etc took a bit of time. We paid for our tickets and I asked for a map- the woman handed me a black and white photocopied map with the smallest writing-= basically useless. We wandered around and finally found an area that looked like it might have some animals- we saw some turtles and birds- the boys were moslty interested in the mister machine that we walked under. Their aunt bought them their first Push-up pops- and they walked around completely engrossed in the sherbet and the rapidly dripping mess collecting on their clothes, shoes, and the dirt. Then Joshua noticed the dirt and the rocks and wanted to play with those- not realizing, of course, that these items, we actually have at home, unlike the turtles, scarlet herons, and lemurs surrounding him! As we walked further- trying, in vain, to point out various members of the Primate family, the boys were entrhalled with a giant lizard STATUE!
Luckily, they have a fun little train ride and a farm area with farm animals! The boys had a great time, it wasn't expensive, and it was an adventure- so I'm not complaining! Enjoy the pictures below! 
This goose was as tall as Joshua! Joshua kept putting his face up to the fence and the goose would try and peck the paci out of his mouth- he thought it was hilarious! I thought it would've been a great way to wean him from his paci- if he'd ask for Paci, I could say "Sorry, remember that mean goose took it?!?!"
