Crying It Out?!

Have any of you with kids tried the sleeping method commonly referred to as Crying It Out? (CIO) It's talked about in the Babywise books and a few others. It's supposed to help get kids to sleep through the night. We did it with Joel & Joshua, but not until they were 5-6 months old. Before we tried it, we'd have to bounce, rock, swing, hold, etc. the boys until they fell alseep and then as soon as we put them in their cribs... WAH!!! crying all over again. The CIO worked well for us with the boys- it took awhile, though. I think they call it crying it out because it's the parents who cry, too! It's hard to hear your child crying! But it's also good to let your child learn to put themselves to sleep after you've made sure all of their other needs have been met. All of this is to say that we're stuck in our old patterns of holding and rocking Ethan to sleep! I would love to try the CIO but it's hard when he doesn't have his own room and the older boys are running around making noise, etc.

I go back to work (2-3 days a week) in 2 weeks and it would be great ot get Ethan to sleep in his bassinet for several hours a night! Please pray for us!! Any advice is welcomed!
